Turtle Welfare
A point-and-click edutainment game for PC about turtle conservation.
Developed by Peter Erbeni, Aerin Larrazabal, Alexander Saffigna-Hayes, and Paige Martin
Role: Game and UI Design

Developed during my second year of QUT for unit IGB200: Game Studio 2: Applied Game Development in 2024, Turtle Welfare is designed around an industry brief from the Department of Environment and Science to develop "an engaging and educational game that teaches players in the Year Levels 4-6 (ages 9-12) about turtle conservation, focusing on the life cycle, habitat, and threats faced by turtles, as well as ways players can contribute to conservation efforts."
Players step into the roles of both a conservation ranger and sea turtle to discover the threats to turtles caused by human action. Turtle Welfare is also designed to demonstrate how conservation can improve turtle's lives through a changing difficulty system in minigames in the turtle's perspective, while also guiding children on what actions they can take to help (e.g. picking up rubbish) through the perspective of a ranger.
Personal Contributions
My work on Turtle Welfare was primarily the design of the game as well as the layout and appearance of the UI. I did many early storyboards for the game, including player actions and controls and the minigames the player must complete.
